Good morning everyone! I hope everyone had a lovely long weekend.

I sent an email on Friday regarding using the app Seesaw. This app will allow me to post videos, links and activities that your child can complete within the app. Your child can also record themselves reading or upload pictures of their work. I will email everyone again details about how to sign up to this app so please keep an eye on your email. I will continue to post on the blog for those of you who cannot access this app. If you have any questions, or would like to email photos of your child’s work, my email is stcolumSI@gmail.com

Thank you again to all of you who have emailed me photos or just to let me know how your child is getting on. It is great to hear from you all.

Please see below some activities your child can do today.

Literacy: Jolly Phonics: ar sound. Play the ar song on youtube (11 mins 53) a few times. Practice singing the song and doing the actions. Look around you and see if you can see any ar words. Can you think of 5 ar words? Remember if the word ends in ar, you can just change the first letter to make new words! Here’s one to start you off: car

Maths: We are going to start learning about time today. Time is not just about clocks and watches. There are lots of different ways to tell the time, such as the day, the season, the month, the year, even what time of the day it is by the sun and the moon.

Active maths: say your days of the week in order. Now, mam/dad say a different day and ask your child what comes next. Write out the days of the week on separate pieces of paper and ask your child to put them in the correct order. Do the same activity for the Seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn Winter

Listen to the video and say what season it is.

Planet Maths: big book pg. 84 Write the correct season under each picture and colour in.

Literacy: Oral language. Log in to folensonline. Search Starlight senior infants in the search bar. Click on unit 12, The Zoo. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on page 2. Click on the Poster tab. Open the poster and encourage your child to talk about what they see- what animals can they name? What are the elephants doing? What are the lions doing? Have they been to the zoo before? Can they recall any animals they saw? What is their favourite animal and why?

After discussing the poster, click on the story 1 mode and listen to the story about the poster.

Word Work: Please see attached new words for this week. The story this week has some very tricky words. I would encourage everyone to take it slow reading the story this week. I would advise work on the new words before trying to read too many pages. Please see Monday’s words today.

Optional: Wind down after all that learning and concentration with this relaxation activity: Think about it https://app.gonoodle.com/activities/take-on-the-day?s=Search

Have a lovely day everyone!
