Most of you should have your workbooks by now. I will assign different pages each day for you. If anyone has any questions or would like to send photos of your child’s work please don’t hesitate to get in contact on stcolumji@gmail.com. I love seeing all the hard work the children are putting in at home and I’m so impressed with the high standard of work. Well done to all involved and keep up the good work!

Reading: I know you have all been working hard learning your new words. Continue with the new word list today. Afterwards I’d like you to do page 13 of your Starlight book. You will need to remember your sight words from the last story you read ‘At the Duck Pond’. Page 13 practices the sight words ‘look’ and ‘see’. For part A you need to colour the two words. For part B you need to find the ducks with ‘look’ and ‘see’ and colour them in. For part C trace the words. For part D read the sentence and see can you decide what word should go in the blank- ‘look’ or ‘see’.

Writing: For writing today I’d like you to do a page in your handwriting book and a cutting activity. I’d like you to make sure your fingers are warmed up before you write. Try the video below to get those fingers ready for writing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VpARNgbb8c  Remember to sit up straight with your back against the chair, two feet on the floor (don’t worry about this one if you are sitting at the kitchen table, it might be difficult to do so!) and your helping hand (the one you are not writing with) holding down the page for support. Pencil grip should be the ‘frog legs’. Pinch near the top of your pencil with your thumb and index finger (the frog legs). Your third finger goes behind acting as the log which the frog is on. The pencil should rest back between the thumb and index finger. I’ll attach a picture below. Once you are ready to write I’d like you to open pg 41 of your handwriting book. We will be doing the letter i. Start at the dot, go straight down and a small flick. This is all one movement. You can then lift your pencil to put the dot on top.Take your time. There’s no need to rush!

All of you should have received a child-friendly scissors with your workbooks yesterday. Please make sure you only use this scissors under adult supervision. I’ve uploaded a clown cutting skills page below. If you don’t have access to a printer ask mum or dad to draw some 2D shapes on a piece of paper and you can cut them out.

Maths: For maths today we’re going to pick up where we left off when we were in school. I’ve uploaded a video below about counting. I’d love for you to have a listen and as I put the objects out on the table I’d like you to count them. You can pause the video if you need extra counting time. To finish I’d like you to complete pg. 78 in your Planet Maths workbook. As I mentioned at the end of the video I’d love to see the work you have completed. Ask mum or dad to take a photo and they can email me on stcolumji@gmail.com.

P.E.: Here’s a quick 5minute workout you can do with Joe Wicks. A nice way to finish off your day! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbFqQarDM50
