Good morning everyone! I hope you are all keeping well. Thanks again for all your emails. You are all working very hard you should be very proud of yourselves! It is lovely to hear from so many of you. Please keep in touch and email me at stcolumSI@gmail.com

Please see below some activities your child can do today.

Literacy: I would like to continue reading our new story, All about Whales. On Tuesday you read the first three pages. Talk about what you remember from the story before you start- what is a mammal? Is a whale a fish? What is a baby whale called? Revise these new words from the story:

Travel     Groups    Pod    Warm    Water    Migrate

Next, read the next two pages of the story.

Jolly Phonics: Let’s look at the “er” sound again. Go to the Jolly Phonics songs on youtube and stop it at 11.35 mins. Listen to the song and sing along doing the action. Yesterday you thought of 3 er words. Today I would like you to think of 3 new er words. Try and put your new words into a sentence and tell it to mam or dad. Write your 3 new er words in a copy or on a piece of paper.

Maths: Skip count in 2s all the way to 20 today. Can you count backwards in 2s from 20 too? I bet you can! Give it a go.

Maths questions: What month is it? What month will it be next month? What month was it last month? Sing the months of the year song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5enDRrWyXaw&list=PLqv4y60m_3_BsDssdzvrCueiho5Tc-1j8

Value of coins: Brown coins like 1c, 2c and 5c have less value than the gold coins, 10c and 20c. Make sure your child understands that even if they had seven 1c coins and another person had one 10c coin, the 10c coin has a bigger value and so the person with one 10c coin has more money than them. Sometimes children confuse the amount of coins they have with the actual value of coins so it is important they understand value is more important than number of coins.

Workbook: Planet Maths (the big book) pg. 108 & 109. These are simple activities about matching coins to the amount and colouring the correct amount of cent.

Gaeilge: Go to folensonline and type Abair Liom Senior infants in the search bar. Click on resources, click on lesson and click on 18, Mála nua. Click on the Póstaer and then click cuardach 1. You can press different items on the poster and it will speak what they are in Irish. Go through the new vocabulary on the poster and try and repeat the new words.

Word Work: Please see attached new words for this week. Please work on Thursday’s words today.

Have a lovely day everyone!
