Reading: Today is the last day I’d like you to work on the word list. I’ll attach a copy below for anyone that needs one. I’m sure you’re all eager to begin reading our new story on Monday.

Writing: Yesterday we learnt how to write the letter ‘l’. You can do the same finger warm up as Wednesday. Remember the letter l is a tall letter. It’s similar to the letter ‘i’ you did on Wednesday but you will notice that in your handwriting book it starts at the red line and not the blue line. This is because it is a tall letter like b, d, f, h, k and t. Starting at the dot go straight down and do a little flick at the end. You should practice tracing the letter in the air and on the table before doing any writing. If you have some playdough at home it would be great if you could make the letter using playdough. Make sure your fingers are warmed up before you start writing. Have a straight back against the chair, two feet on the floor (if you can reach!) and check your pencil grip before writing. Once you’re ready have a go at pg. 43 of your workbook. It is similar to the page you did yesterday, but be careful with the last few letters. You need to do them independently without tracing. Take your time with your writing and if you need to take a break then do.

Phonics: Have a little look at the ‘x’ Jolly Phonics sound again on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2HYM9VXz9k&t=523s Go to 9 mins 7 secs. Once you have practiced the sound and the action I’d like you to go to pg. 58 of your Sounds Make Words workbook. Say the words with ’x’ at the end. Trace the letter ‘x’. Try read the sentence at the bottom of the page. Mum or Dad can help you with some of the tricky words. Circle all the x’s in the sentence.

Maths: Following on from the work we’ve been doing the past two days on counting objects in sets, I’d like you to have a look at the video below. Watch the characters count objects in the sets. Then it’s your turn. The sets go up as far as 20! Go to pg. 80 of your Planet Maths workbook. Read the numeral in the box underneath the pictures. The first numeral is 3. You must colour 3 buckets. The second numeral is 2. You must colour 2 suns etc. Be careful with your counting! Feel free to get in touch on stcolumji@gmail.com if you have any questions or issues I can help you with. I love hearing how the children are getting on and seeing photos of all their hard work. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!
